In einer Woche erscheint mit "Glow" seine erste eigene EP auf White Rooms. Heute wollen wir mehr über ihn erfahren und haben zum Interview eingeladen. ASIOMAZES recently made its debut on White Rooms Records with a remix for „Ramona chillt“ by Steve Heart. Have you already listened? In a week his first EP “Glow” will be released on White Rooms. Today we want to learn more about him and have invited you to an interview. You can find a German translation below.

What got you into music?
When I was a child, I used to like to listen to the radio while I was going to school and our school’s bus driver used to listen to the best local radio channels. While I was listening, I tried to mix different songs with the rhythm. So that is how it all began. Later listening to music became a major habit in my day-to-day life.
When I was 15 years old, I heard about electronic dance music for the first time. The „Edward Maya-Stereo love“ and „This is my life“ always were my top favorite. At that time, my entire life belonged to Electronic music. Even I started producing music when I had naught knowledge regarding Electronic music. I downloaded FL studio and tried to create something interesting. In the beginning, I only memorized just drum roll with 4 and 4 beats with unmatching pluck rhythm. After years of hard work and learning now I’m about to begin my long journey. Electronic music production became a hobby, and hobby became a journey. This is not the end of my story… This is just the beginning of the new chapter of my long journey.

Who inspired you to make music?
Actually, in the beginning, I was inspired by Hardwell. He is such a hard working DJ and producer all the time. So, I started to try to become like him. During that time he was voted the world’s number one DJ in the world. That kind of event inspired me all the time. I always thought if I could produce top songs like him and tried to do the same. After some time, I realized ‚Okay I don’t want to become the second Hardwell, I want to be an iconic person.“ Since that time, I have tried to produce my unique stuff.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Normally I create progressive house and progressive trance and also commercial music. But recently I stepped in with ambience music and chillout. I believe Ambience and chillout suits for pain relief. I always stepped into my production to make someone happy and smile. Therefore, I added some grooves to happy beats.

What is your creative process like? Which tools (Software, Hardware) do you use?
I mainly use Ableton Live with Novation Launchkey 49, also I use yamaha HS5 as monitors. Normally I start with a bunch of chords with some dreamy pads, then create some nice leads and chords to fit into the track. After that, adding some drums and creating grooves. Then I got an idea about the arrangement, after the arrangement process again I dig to the project and add some final touches. I can say the creative process depends on my idea. Sometimes I start with a bunch of drum samples. The dimension track from GLOW EP has a different style, it runs from a single Arp with an amazing lead synth.

Which musicians or other producers do you admire? Do you have an idol?
There are so many producers I admire, but Avicii got to be my top favorite artist. Sadly, he passed away in 2018, but his music never died. I like the unique style of his music. „Levels“ always wake me up, such a supermassive music all the time. Armin van Buuren and Above&Beyond I also admire most, also Ben Böhmer’s deep and progressive house style already caught me up. There are so many talented producers out there, I enjoy anyone who produces great music, no matter he or she is famous or not. Music always matters.

What is the most success you achieved or is there any kind of special moment in your music career that still makes you smile today?
I’ll be honest, actually I am and will always be happy after I release music. Behind the process of music production, there’s often so much struggling, failures, sleepless nights. Sometimes it can be a stressful job but it’s always worth it. I would like to share happiness from every single note of music. When I look back on where I started and where I am standing right now, there is SO much difference. I’m happy with that every day, and it’s just a fact that I’m still working for something I always dreamed of. So this is not the end yet.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?
 I remember once a friend of mine said to me “Follow your passion and be yourself. Always hard work pays off, so don’t give up until you achieve your goal. Always be prepared, give 100% of the effort to your work.”

What’s next for you?
I hope to release some new music this year and also I already decided to release an album, two or more EPs. Also, in near future, I will participate in an open-air DJ set in Sri Lanka, and I’ll continue my Dreamland Podcast. I’m pretty sure from this year ASIOMAZES will bang all over the world.

Was hat dich zur Musik gebracht?
Als ich ein Kind war, hörte ich gerne Radio, während ich zur Schule ging, und der Onkel des Busfahrers unserer Schule hörte die besten lokalen Radiosender. Während ich zuhöre, habe ich versucht, verschiedene Songs mit dem Rhythmus zu mischen. So fing alles an. Später wurde das Hören von Musik zu einer wichtigen Gewohnheit in meinem täglichen Leben.
Als ich 15 Jahre alt war, hörte ich zum ersten Mal von elektronischer Tanzmusik. Die „Edward Maya-Stereo Liebe“ und „Das ist mein Leben“ sind immer mein Favorit. Zu dieser Zeit gehört mein ganzes Leben der elektronischen Musik. Sogar ich fing an Musik zu produzieren, als ich keine Kenntnisse über elektronische Musik hatte. Ich habe FL Studio heruntergeladen und versucht, etwas Interessantes zu erstellen. Am Anfang habe ich nur Drum Roll mit 4 und 4 Beats mit unübertroffenem Zupfrhythmus auswendig gelernt. Nach Jahren harter Arbeit und Lernen Jetzt beginne ich meine lange Reise. Die Produktion elektronischer Musik wurde zum Hobby und das Hobby zur Reise. Dies ist nicht das Ende meiner Geschichte… Dies ist nur der Anfang des neuen Kapitels meiner langen Reise.

Wer hat dich inspiriert, Musik zu machen?
Eigentlich war ich am Anfang von Hardwell inspiriert. Er ist die ganze Zeit ein hart arbeitender DJ und Produzent. Also fing ich an zu versuchen, wie er zu werden. Während dieser Zeit wurde er zum weltweit führenden DJ gewählt. Diese Art von Veranstaltung hat mich die ganze Zeit inspiriert. Ich dachte immer, ob ich Top-Songs wie ihn produzieren könnte und versuchte es auch. Nach einiger Zeit wurde mir klar: „Okay, ich möchte nicht der zweite Hardwell werden, ich möchte eine Ikone sein.“ Seitdem habe ich versucht, meine einzigartigen Sachen zu produzieren.

Wie würdest du die Musik beschreiben, die du normalerweise produzierst?
Normalerweise erstelle ich Progressive House und Progressive Trance sowie kommerzielle Musik. Aber vor kurzem bin ich mit Ambient und Chillout eingestiegen. Ich glaube, Ambient und Chillout unterstützen vor allem zur Schmerzlinderung. Ich bin immer mit dem Hintergedanken in meine Produktion eingetreten, jemanden glücklich zu machen und ihm ein Lächeln aufs Gesicht zu zaubern. Und so füge ich zu fröhlichen Beats einige Grooves hinzu.

Wie ist dein kreativer Prozessablauf? Welche Tools (Software, Hardware) nutzt du?
Ich benutze hauptsächlich Ableton Live mit Novation Launchkey 49, außerdem benutze ich Yamaha HS5 als Monitore. Normalerweise beginne ich mit einer Reihe von Akkorden mit einigen dreamy Pads und erstelle dann einige nette Leads und Akkorde, die in den Track passen. Danach füge ich Drums hinzu und erstelle die Grooves. Dann habe ich die finale Idee zum Arrangement, und nach dem Arrangementprozess grabe ich mich wieder in das Projekt ein und verpasse ihm den letzten Schliff. Man kann also sagen, dass der kreative Prozess meist von meiner Idee abhängt. Manchmal beginne ich mit ein paar Drum-Samples. Der Track „Dimension“ auf der GLOW EP hat einen anderen Stil, er läuft von einem einzelnen Arp mit einem ziemlich genialen Lead-Synth.

Welche berühmten Musiker oder welche anderen Produzenten bewunderst du? Hast du ein Idol?
Es gibt so viele Produzenten die ich bewundere, aber Avicii ist mein Lieblingskünstler. Er verstarb leider in 2018, aber seine Musik lebt weiter. Ich mag den einzigartigen Stil seiner Musik. „Levels“ weckt mich immer wieder auf, durchgehend eine super massiv gute Musik. Armin van Buuren und Above & Beyond bewundere ich auch sehr, auch Ben Böhmer’s deeper und progressiver House Stil hat mich total abgeholt. Es gibt so viele talentierte Produzenten da draußen. Ich mag jeden, der großartige Musik produziert, egal ob er oder sie berühmt ist oder nicht. Musik ist immer wichtig.

War war dein größter Erfolg bislang oder gibt es einen besonderen Moment, der dir auch heute noch ein Lächeln aufs Gesicht zaubert?
Ich bin ehrlich, eigentlich bin und werde ich immer glücklich sein, in dem Moment, in dem ich Musik veröffentlicht habe. Hinter dem Prozess der Musikproduktion stehen oft so viele Kämpfe, Misserfolge und schlaflose Nächte. Manchmal kann es ein stressiger Job sein, aber es lohnt sich immer. Ich möchte das Glück mit jeder einzelnen Musiknote teilen. Wenn ich zurückblicke, wo ich angefangen habe und wo ich gerade stehe, sehe ich da so viel Unterschied. Ich bin jeden Tag dankbar dafür und es ist eben immer noch so, dass ich an etwas arbeite, von dem ich immer geträumt habe. Das ist also noch nicht das Ende.

Was ist der beste Ratschlag, den du mal erhalten hast?
Ich erinnere mich, als ein Freund von mir sagte: „Folge deiner Leidenschaft und sei du selbst. Harte Arbeit zahlt sich immer aus. Gib also nicht auf, bis du dein Ziel erreicht hast. Sei immer vorbereitet und gib dir zu 100% Mühe mit deiner Arbeit.“

Was steht als nächstes bei dir an?
Ich hoffe, dieses Jahr neue Musik veröffentlichen zu können und habe mich bereits entschieden, ein Album und zwei oder mehr EPs, zu veröffentlichen. Außerdem werde ich in naher Zukunft an einem OpenAir DJ-Set in Sri Lanka teilnehmen und meinen Dreamland-Podcast fortsetzen. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass ASIOMAZES ab diesem Jahr auf der ganzen Welt auf den Markt kommen wird.
